COVID19 INFECTION MITIGATION PROCEDURES
NC KAT, like any other establishment, cannot guarantee to have 100% covid19 infection free environment. Our staff and coaches will work in order to keep the facility and equipment sanitized, as well as following distancing procedures. NC Kat management advises all parents and families to read our instructions and if you are not comfortable with your daughter resuming volleyball activities we are flexible for her to start sessions with us at any time in the future. Parents understand that participating in volleyball activities is at their own risk and NC KAT management, staff, coaches, are not liable in case of infection.
Minimizing the number or people into the Kat Gym
Parents are recommended just to drop their children off at the Kat Gym entrance and pick them up when the session is finished. For those parents who absolutely need to stay at the Kat Gym, only the reception area will be available for parents / families and we will ask everyone to keep 6ft apart. Parents/families must bring and wear their own masks inside the building as per NC Governor's executive order 147.
Use of masks
In compliance with NC Governor’s executive order 180 dated Nov,23rd everyone over the age of 5 who is indoors into the Kat Gym facility (staff, coaches, parents, players and families) must wear a mask at all times, including players and coaches in court during all sessions and programs. This order will be in effect until December,11th 2020.
Registrations and payments at reception
Kat Gym Members = Have the players to bring checks/cash for their sessions with them as much as possible. New players = parents are welcome to come to reception to do the KAT GYM MEMBERSHIP and payments. Please wear a mask. Parents who wish to talk with staff or make payments are welcome into the Kat Gym reception. Please wear a mask.
Dropping off and picking up your child from the Kat Gym
Drop off your child at the Kat Gym front doors only 5 minutes before their session is supposed to start. All players dropped off earlier than 5 minutes will be asked to wait at the PARENT VIEWING AREA (with glass windows) and moved to the WARM-UP AREA when the previous session is finished and all players from the previous session have cleared the building.
Pick up your child at the Kat Gym exit doors - at the end of sessions all players will be directed outside the building into the front parking lot to wait for their parents. The outside area will be cleared from cars by cones and there will be staff/coaches supervising players outside the building until all parents have collected their children safely. Please arrive on time to collect your child.
Everyone entering the building will have their temperature checked
Kat staff will be checking everyone's temperature (using a touch-free infrared forehead thermometer) when entering the building. Staff will immediately get in touch with parents when a child shows high temperature (at or above 100F).
Do NOT enter the Kat Gym if you or your child is experiencing the following symptoms
Players must enter the Kat Gym already wearing their full volleyball gear
Players must have their ankle braces, volleyball shoes, knee pads, shorts/spandex and Kat shirt on when entering the gym so that we limit the time they spend in the warm-up area.
Bags and other large items
Please refrain your child from bringing volleyball bags and larger items to the facility. We want to avoid having players closer to each other on the floor trying to get their ankle braces, knee pads, shoes on. Use small bags if necessary so we can keep those at safe distance in the warmup area.
Water Bottles
Players must bring their own water bottles. The Kat Gym water fountain will be CLOSED.
What should players bring to the Kat Gym?
Social distancing guidelines
Players will not touch each other during sessions. Players will observe distancing during water breaks. Coaches will release players for water brakes in small batches. Water fountain will be NOT available. Players must bring their own water bottles.
Restrooms
When possible, only one person into the restrooms at a time.

Parent and guardians' agreement
NC Kat is committed to the health and safety of all our staff, coaches, players and families. The club will work and implement procedures in line with USA Volleyball and observing NC Governor's directions. The club will do the best we can in order to sanitize facility and equipment, keep social distance, endeavor to avoid virus transmission. However, parents and guardians understand and agree that it is impossible for the club to guarantee an environment that is 100% free of risk infection. Parents and guardians who come to the Kat Gym or bring their children into the facility understand and agree that there is a risk of covid19 (or any other viruses) infection which can lead to sickness and even death for themselves, their children and loved ones.
If a parent or guardian is uncomfortable with taking such risks we ask them NOT to come to the Kat Gym. Most of our programs are flexible and the club will welcome our families at any time (now or in the future) when they feel safe and comfortable at our facility.
We will continue assessing infection risks and possibly changing some procedures in time.

Thursday,21st May
Within the past 10 weeks NC KAT has been following the NC Governor's directions to close
our doors so that our players, families, staff and coaches do not risk exposure to COVID-19.
Every week we have also been following news developments and information from NCDHHS,
USA Volleyball, USAV Carolina Region and other sources. We have been constantly planning
and re-planning on staff, procedures and supplies needed to re-open the facility. Over the weeks we
have witnessed tournament after tournament being cancelled by organizers in different states
(NC, SC, GA, VA, TN). I have been hopeful that gyms and athletic indoor facilities would become
part of the NC Governor's plans for 'phase 2' re-opening, however, we have just learned last night that our type
of business has NOT been included into 'phase 2' (NC Governor's executive order 141).
e are now working towards being included in 'phase 3' so that we can re-open the Kat Gym in the beginning of July.
The KAT GYM continues CLOSED until (at least) June,26th.
With immediate effect (and deep regret) we must announce the completion of the 2020 competitive season for all our teams -
11W, 11R, 12R, 12B, 13W, 13R, 13B, 14S, 14R, 14B, 15R, 15B, 16B, 18B.
1. Each Head Coach will be contacting his/her team to discuss how to provide a closure to the season
(ZOOM call, small outdoor gathering, etc)
2. The club will start working on calculating refunds for all teams. Please notice that the club will have to
balance our fixed costs needs for survival (facility lease, electricity demand charges, property insurance,
cleaning supplies, maintenance contracts, staff payments, etc) and still honor the fact we have been willing,
but unable to provide the practices, scrimmages, conditioning , lots and lots of smiles and beautiful memories
to all our very dear and valued players and families. Please make sure you let our secretary Gretchen (gretchen.nckatsecretary@gmail.com) know if you have a new address.
We plan to mail refund checks within the last couple of weeks in June.
3. SPRING PROGRAM is cancelled (parents please go online www.nckatvolleyball.com and register your child
or the Summer Program instead)
4. The club will NOT provide refunds for missed MS PREP or FROGS sessions in Winter.
But HOLD ON!!!! This does not mean we are done!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NC Kat is now planning and working towards providing an exciting SUMMER PROGRAM
with lots of clinics, a re-vamped beginners program (KAT BASICS / PROGRESS), FROGS sessions for
our youngest players, HIGH SCHOOL TRAINING and HIGH SCHOOL CHALLENGE for our experienced players,
DAY CAMPS, private lessons and much more!!!
SUMMER PROGRAM will be announced soon and will run from July,6th until August,22nd.
Online registration will also open soon! If you need a recommendation of which program to register
your daughter for Summer, please either get in touch with your coach or send me an e-mail on
nckatvolleyball@gmail.com (Coach Erika).
All our coaches and staff are totally missing our players' smiles, hi-5s, jokes, silliness.
We are missing that energy we have at practices, making our players exhausted at conditioning sessions.
All those weekends travelling to tournaments, stressing out at the bench, being apprehensive , excited ,
sweaty , surprised , joyful and just happy to share amazing moments with our amazing players and families.
The club appreciates our coaches' and staff's dedication, excellence of service as well as our families' support for the club.
Thank you!!!!

Wednesday,6th May
NC Government announced yesterday that the state will start re-opening its economy from this coming
weekend (executive order 138). This is good news! 'Phase 1' of the plan does NOT include indoor exercise facilities.
I am optimistic that fitness centers and gyms will be allowed to re-open with 'Phase 2' meaning that we may
be able to resume our operations around May,22nd!!!
The KAT GYM will be CLOSED until (at least) May,22nd.
There are still some tournaments holding for June, so we may be able to take some of our teams for a
tournament or two! Fingers crossed!
Regardless of us having tournaments to attend (or not), NC Kat still plans to re-start team practices
and complete our season in as many weeks as possible (possibly May,22nd-Jun,20th) providing our players
with team practices, scrimmages, physical activity, team bonding, (maybe) tournaments and much needed sense
of getting back to some type of normality. Once we know when the Kat Gym can re-open we will send each team
a new TEAM GUIDE with dates/times/events to conclude our competitive season.
The club will also look at each team individually and offer partial refunds for tournaments that we are unable to replace.
We will need to wait until the end of June until we fully understand the extent of lost tournaments for each team
before we start processing refunds. We will do our best to balance the club's needs to meet fixed responsibilities
and refunding our families (when/if applicable).

In observance to the NC Governor's executive order 135 on April,23rd we must continue keeping
the Kat Gym CLOSED until at least May,8th.
NC State is looking to start re-opening its economy in 3 phases from May,8th.
t is still unclear if volleyball gyms will be included in phase 1, we will hopefully have more detailed
information in the beginning of next week from the government. If volleyball gyms are included in
phase 2 it is likely that we will not be allowed to open the Kat Gym until around May,22nd.
Unfortunately within the last week we have received news that many tournaments we have planned
to register our teams in May and June are now cancelled by the organizers. There are still a few tournaments
holding and we may look at registering our teams (if possible). Regardless of us having tournaments
to attend (or not), NC Kat still plans to re-start team practices and complete our season in as many
weeks as possible (May,9th-Jun,15th/22nd) or (May,22th-Jun,20th) providing our players with team practices,
scrimmages, physical activity, team bonding, (maybe) tournaments and much needed sense of getting back to
